Grace Harris

Grace Gertrude McCraw Harris, 100 years young, passed away at Windsor House Assisted Living Saturday, May 20, 2017. Born February 21, 1917 in Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Romeo Rosco and Luella Smith McCraw and was the widow of Hoyle Edward Harris. Grace was a lifelong resident of the Beaumont Community and the oldest member of Beaumont Baptist Church where she has attended since she was 16 years old. She was employed at Beaumont Mills for over 50 years and was also a Red Cross volunteer for 14 years at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her daughters, Evelyn Dixon (Ed) of Laurens, SC; Marlene Wilds of Moore, SC; son, Mitchell Harris (Jean) of Spartanburg, SC; eight grandchildren, Bobby Newman, Becky O'Reily, Anita Dixon, Angela Franklin, Rhonda Bryant, Scott Wilds, Brian Harris, and Paula Smith; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and sister, Addie Lee Hancock of Boiling Springs, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by granddaughter, Pamela Payton and other family members, Jim McCraw, Louise Skipper, Vernon McCraw, Ocie Weathers, Marshall "Dude" McCraw, and Mary Ruth Wells. Visitation will be 1:00 - 1:45 PM Monday, May 22, 2017 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. John Cox and the Rev. Rupert Guest. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.
