Gordon Zuber

June 18, 1931 — November 2, 2013

Gordon D. Zuber, 82, of Spartanburg, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 18, 1931, in Anthony, Kansas, he was the son of the late Joseph Dewey and Nellie Patterson Zuber. He was married to Inga Zuber and Layne Taylor, and is married to Jennifer Johnson Zuber. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and attained a Masters Degree in Accounting from Texas A&M University. Mr. Zuber was a business leader and entrepreneur of several businesses in Spartanburg, of which he was co-founder of Mr. Zip Food Stores and founder of Li'l Cricket Food Stores. Mr. Zuber was a generous man who was totally devoted to and loved his family and friends. In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter, Debbie Zuber Cobb of Wellford; sons, John B. Zuber of Fort Worth, TX, James P. Zuber (Ana P.) of Inman, SC and Joe B. Zuber of Spartanburg; daughter, Catherine V. Fountain of Spartanburg; sisters, Norma Boozer of Alabama and Dorothy Perkins of Texas; brothers, Calvin Zuber (Bonnie) of Texas and Kent Zuber of Spartanburg. Grandchildren are Corey Harris (Ashton); Seany Swain (Trevor); Nicolas, Sofia, and Gabriela Zuber; Angie Dale (Stephen); and Stephanie Wheatley (Chris), all of Spartanburg. Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, 29306. Following the visitation, all are invited to a celebration of Gordon Zuber's life at Dudley's Restaurant, 1055 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, 29306. No flowers please.
