Glenn W. Greer “Pig Eye”, 86, of Moore, SC, died Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his home. Born July 22, 1936, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late William Alton and Genelle Condrey Greer.
A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Greer was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and the SLED Police Academy. He retired from Spartanburg City Police Department after 29 years of serving as Sergeant, Detective, and Court Officer. He served as a member of and former president of the Spartanburg Police Club. He was a volunteer for 17 years with the Byrnes High School Rebel Regiment. He was also a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg and a lifelong member of Green Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lela Langston Greer; children, Kimberly G. Hammett (Ricky) of Pauline, SC and Glenn W. Greer II (Carrie) of Lyman, SC; grandchildren, Trey Bullman (Dare) of Roebuck, SC and Grace Waddell (Isaiah), Hailey Greer and Arielle Greer; great-granddaughter, Clary R. Bullman; sisters, Mary Pearman and Rachel Jones; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Raymond Greer, Jimmy Greer, and Robert Greer; and sisters, Becky G. Bledsoe and Martha Greer.
We would like to thank the special caregivers, Kosha Shirley and Teresa Johnson for their loving care for Glenn.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4:30 PM Sunday, September 4, 2022 in Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 680 Nazareth Church Rd., Moore, SC 29369, conducted by The Rev. Brian Redding, The Rev. Larry Fleming, and The Rev. Robert Collins. Visitation will be at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Bridge at Green Street, 317 Green Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
