Glenn Allen Edwards, Jr., a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November24, 2024, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, at the age of 72. Born on July 15, 1952, in Spartanburg to the late Glenn Edwards, Sr. and Estern Virginia Pruitt Edwards. .

A proud graduate of Boiling Springs High School in 1971, Allen demonstrated his passion for music as an active member of the school band, taking on the role of bass drum player. He furthered his education at Spartanburg Community College.

Allen was a well-respected member of the Parkway Free Will Baptist Church, where he served diligently as an usher. He became an ASA umpire from 2001 to 2009 and dedicated many years to recreational ball, demonstrating his love of sports and coaching the youth. In addition, he coached Little League baseball and football, sharing his knowledge and passion for the game. His leadership extended to the Boiling Springs High School Athletic Association, where he served as Past President of the BSHS Football Booster Club. Allen was also a member of the Spartanburg Modeling Club. 

Allen had an outgoing personality, indulging in hobbies such as coaching, umpiring, airbrushing, and traveling. However, his greatest joy stemmed from the moments spent surrounded by his loved ones. He is lovingly known as Hei Hei, Pop, and Poppa to his grandchildren.

Beyond his many accomplishments, Allen cherished the time spent with his family. He was married to his beloved wife of 52 years, Natalia Ford Edwards, and together they created a warm and loving home. Allen is also survived by his daughter, Robin Edwards Watson (Jason) of Chesnee; and his son, Christopher Ford Edwards (Nicole) of Spartanburg.  He adored his grandchildren: Chandler McQuade Murray, Benjamin Allen Watson, Rubye Laura Watson, and Olivia Jeanette Edwards, as well as his great-grandson, Christian John Murray. Allen is also survived by his sister, Baranda Murray (Dale) of Mt. Pleasant, NC, and a special friendship with Jamie Gillian of Spartanburg.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Phyllis Melton (Furman).

The visitation will be held, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM, Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307.

The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, followed by the graveside service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Mitch Edge and the Rev. Wes Murray.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Juvenile Diabetes Association, Breakthrought1d.org   or Parkway Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 160283, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.

Glenn Allen Edwards, Jr. will be remembered not only for his contributions to the community and his unwavering support for his family but also for his kind spirit and genuine love for life.
