Glen Melton

Glen R. Melton, 83, of Moore, SC, died Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born October 4, 1938 in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late Olin Glen and Mary Coker Melton.

A SC National Guard veteran, Glen was the owner of the Glen R. Melton Insurance Agency.  He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, Spartanburg Junior College, and Wofford College.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, Spartanburg Lions Club and The Piedmont Club.

He was a competitive sportsman, playing basketball in high school and college.  He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed golf, fishing and even horseback riding.  He loved to garden and was a Master Gardener.

Survivors include his beloved wife , Peggie Lee Melton; daughter, Elizabeth Melton Pressley; grandchildren, Samantha Lee Pressley and William Melton Pressley; brother, Earl Melton (Donna); sister-in-law, Jane Jones (Don), and grand dog, Daphne.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 3, 2022, 2:00-3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. A Memorial service will be at 3:30 PM at the church, conducted by The Rev. Joanne Hull.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, c/o Purnell Fund, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC, 29302 or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
