Glen Easler

Glen Astor Easler, 95, of Spartanburg, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 3, 1916 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Harry L. and Hattie Johnson Easler. He retired in 1978 from Duke Power Company over 30 years of service. He was a lifelong active member of Cherokee Springs Baptist Church for most of his life and was a former deacon and treasurer, a member of the cemetery committee and search committee. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in major battles in the European theater and was a Purple Heart recipient. Glen was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Angeline White Easler; daughter, Glenda Dudley and husband Mike of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Timothy of Spartanburg; two grandsons, David Dudley and wife Kelly of Marietta, GA and Patrick Easler of Spartanburg; half-sister, Erin Easler Ivey and husband James; half-brother, Conley L. Easler and wife Marion. He was predeceased by a brother Bobby Joe Easler and sister, Marion Becknell. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Monday, December 12, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bill Lark and the Rev. George McDowell. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Cherokee Springs Baptist Church, 2699 Chesnee Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
