Gladys Lewis

Gladys Jeanette Griffin Lewis, 93, of Spartanburg, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at White Oak Manor-Spartanburg. Born May 10, 1919, in Lockhart, SC, she was the widow of Thomas J. Lewis and daughter of the late Lattie Chappel and Carrie May Foster Griffin. Mrs. Lewis was retired from Springs Industries of Lyman and a member of Beaumont Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Tommy G. Lewis Sr. and wife Kay of Spartanburg; daughter, Laverne Jennings of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Vernon Griffin of Spartanburg. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 20, 2012, in Sunset Memorial Park, by the Rev. Steven A. McLain. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Beaumont Baptist Church, 945 Beaumont Avenue Ext., Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lewis Sr., 150 Old County Parrish Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
