Gladys Coleman

Gladys Elizabeth Lowry Coleman, 96, of 228 Connecticut Avenue, died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at her home. Born February 19, 1914 in Wilkinsville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Philip S. and Macie Eula Vassy Lowry and the wife of the late Dr. Lowell H. Coleman. She retired as a secretary in 1956 from the office of her late husband and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Survivors include a sister, Miriam Vassy Lowry of the home; a sister-in-law, Lanell Lowry of Spartanburg; and a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, John David Lowry and Philip S. Lowry, Jr., and a sister, Carolyn Lowry Harrison. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 17, 2010 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. David B. Smith and the Rev. David E. Nichols.
