Gertrude Thompson

Gertrude Knight Thompson, 87, of 225 Old Detour Road, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born September 23, 1922, in Florence County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ralph D. and Louise Jordan Knight and the wife of the late Cecil Preston Thompson. She was a graduate of Scranton High School. Survivors include a son, Cecil Phillip Thompson of Central, FL; three daughters, Gail Correll of Gaffney, Hilda Miele of Houston, TX, and Romona Chesney of Piedmont; four sisters, Sue Kennedy of Charleston, Kathryn Powell of Kingstree, Ina Blake of Salters, and Anita Haynes of Gaffney; a sister-in-law, Janie Knight of Kingstree; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be 12:45-1:45 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by Pastor Donald H.
