Geraldine Pennington

Geraldine "Dean" Marion Pennington, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born December 13, 1930, in Corbin, KY, she was the daughter of the late Dill Pennington, and Susie Hoskins and her husband John. "Dean" was a member of Powell Presbyterian Church. She was retired from Glenco Hosiery and was also employed as a biscuit maker at Hardees. Among survivors are her daughter, Dana Owens (Wayne) of Boiling Springs, SC; a nephew raised in her home, Ronald C. Mabry (Marty); grandchildren, Dennis Owens (Paula) and Jamie Cromer (Michael); eight great-grandchildren; great-nephew, Ken Mabry (Heather) and great-niece, Tonya Woody (Mark), both raised in her home; great-great-nephew and niece, Coleman Woody and Kristen Casey (Eric); and several other great-great-nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, J. B. Abner and Gerald Hoskins; and sisters, Laura Tamme and Lula Mabry. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Fred Thompson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
