Geraldine Parris

Geraldine Lanier Parris, 81, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born January 15, 1933, in Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Shuford and Juanita Jones Lanier. Mrs. Parris was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and Young at Heart. She was a retired executive assistant having worked in banking, at Mayfair Mills, and for former mayor of Spartanburg, Mayor Frank Allen. Surviving is her beloved husband of 61 years, Verland D. Parris; brothers, Donald Lanier and Keith Lanier (Brenda), all of Gaffney, SC; sister-in-law, Vicki Lanier of Spartanburg, SC; and brother-in-law, James Parris of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Jodean Lanier and Shuford Lanier, Jr. A cryptside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Alan Elder and the Rev. Glenn Rusher. Visitation will follow at the cryptside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 622 Alamo St., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
