Gerald Jenkins

Gerald "Jerry" Thomas Jenkins, 84, of Friendship Church Road, Pauline, SC, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born January 27, 1930, in Heilwood, PA, he was a son of the late Isaac C. and Laura Lansberry Jenkins. He retired from the U.S. Navy after serving 20 years, with service in Korea and Vietnam as a hospital corpsman. He was also retired from Spartanburg County Maintenance and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Melba Hayes Jenkins; a son, William W. Jenkins (Verna) of Pauline; a daughter, Cynthia J. Courtney (Ken) of Austin, TX; six grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Trinkley. He was predeceased by three sons, a daughter, three brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 3:45 PM on Sunday, March 23, 2013, at Friendship Baptist Church, 830 Friendship Church Road, Pauline, SC 29374. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM in the church, conducted by the Rev. Brian P. Harris. Burial with full military rites will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home.
