Gerald Bailey

Gerald Delano Bailey, 76, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Physical Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. Born June 8, 1941, in Startex, SC, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Aimelee Burnett Bailey and his step-mother, Kathleen Bailey, who raised him after his mother died when he was very young. Mr. Bailey enjoyed singing and playing the harmonica. He retired from Williams Welding & Fabrication and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Nellie Bailey; children, Cheryl Classen (Tim) of Fairview, OK and Philip Bailey (Tonya) of Union, SC; grandchildren, Zachary Classen, Zoey Classen, Zella Classen, Johnothon Luke Bailey, Gabe Bailey; great-grandson, Samuel Luke Bailey; and brother, Ronald Bailey (Sharon) of Chesnee, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Cornelia Haralson; and brothers, Bill, James, and Frank Bailey. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 8, 2017, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Dr. Michael Bradley.
