Georgialene Gilbert Gowan, 69, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, March 9, 2017, at her home. Born March 31, 1947, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late James Pinkney Gilbert and Georgie Ann Schultz Gilbert and widow of Joseph Alexander Gowan. Mrs. Gowan was formerly employed with Alexander's, later with Spartanburg County Senior Center, and served as director of the Senior Center in Cowpens. She attended Hope Church. Survivors include her son, Joseph "Jody" Pinkney Gowan (Erika) of Woodruff, SC; grandchildren, Liam and Ollie; sisters, Norma Jean Cantrell (Randy) of Cowpens, SC and Inez Hinson of Longwood, NC; and brother, Frederick Gilbert (Connie) of Boiling Springs, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Peggy Westbrook; and little brother, Norman Fletcher Gilbert. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
