George Swofford

George Willis Swofford, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born October 22, 1928, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late George Boyd and Florence Calvert Swofford. Mr. Swofford was retired from Spartan Mills, a member of the Masons and he was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife Nancy Harris Swofford; son, Dennis Swofford (Wanda) of Spartanburg; granddaughter, Holly Parris (Michael) of Cowpens; great-granddaughter, Briana Parris; brother, Winfred Swofford of Spartanburg; and sister, Wilma Brannon of Chesnee. He was predeceased by brothers, Max and Charles Swofford; and a sister, Helen Varner. Visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 PM on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by The Rev. Andy Case. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery Street, Cowpens, SC 29330.
