George Pilkington

George Edward Pilkington, 70, of Gaffney, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born September 23, 1942, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Florence James Pilkington. Mr. Pilkington was a member of Woodmen of the World, a former volunteer for Glenn Springs-Pauline Fire Dept for 24 years, and formerly served on Croft Rescue 18 for 23 years. He attended Hammett Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Wendy Pilkington Freeman and her husband Jay of Pauline, SC, Sara Spencer and her husband Denver of Gaffney, SC, and Tammy Littlejohn and her husband Gene of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Lath Freeman, Seth Freeman, Blyth Freeman, Makayla Spencer, and Crystal Littlejohn; great-grandchildren, Camron Easler and Jayden Easler; and a special friend and dance partner, Christine E. Wilson of Roebuck, SC. He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen Brackins Pilkington. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, February 8, 2013, in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, by the Rev. David Sellars. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn Springs-Pauline Fire Department, 3104 SC Hwy 56, Pauline, SC 29374; or Goucher-White Plains Fire Department, 579 Goucher School Road, Gaffney, SC 29340. The family is at the old home place, the home of his daughter, Wendy Freeman.
