George Kopf

George William Kopf, 89, of Roebuck, SC, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 1, 1924, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Carl Clarence and Gertrude Sarah Hoar Kopf. A World War II veteran of the U. S. Army, he served with the 253rd Combat Engineers in the European Theatre. Mr. Kopf was retired from Andrews Bearing Corporation and was formerly employed by Chapman Valve, Springfield, MA, and American Standard in Louisville, KY and Buffalo, NY. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC. Survivors include his wife, Nina Lee Zadik Kopf; children, Christine Stephenson (Jim) of Holiday, FL, Georgiann Kristek (Richard) of Leeds, MA, and Craig Kopf (Lori) of Spartanburg, SC; step-children, Scarlett Larko of Ft. Wayne, IN, Lynn Kincaid (Steve) of Irmo, SC; grandchildren, Kirsten Momsen, Sam and Caroline Kopf; two nephews; one niece; step-grandchildren, Stephen Koon, Kathryn Nunez, Laney Kincaid, Stacey Whyte, and Jamin Vatalaro; and three step-great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Rodenhaus Kopf; great grandson, Bryce Momsen; and a brother, Carl C. Kopf. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM, Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Southside Baptist Church, 316 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services with military rites by the SC State Honors Team will follow at 11:00 AM at the church, conducted by the Rev. Schuyler Peterson and the Rev. David Blanton.
