George Georgopoulos

George Georgopoulos, 61, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his home. Born November 14, 1952, in Sparta, Greece, he was the son of Constantina Vasiliadi Georgopoulos of Sparta, Greece and the late John Georgopoulos. Mr. Georgopoulos was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and a restaurateur. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Rachel Hines Georgopoulos; children, Kosta, Spero, Evgenia, Georgia, Emmanuel, Zachary, and Allison, all of Cowpens, SC, and John Georgopoulos, of Charlotte, NC; three stepchildren, Payton, Lois, and Sydra Hade; two grandchildren; and sister, Eugenia Karantonis (Pantelis) of Sparta, Greece. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 697 Asheville Hwy, Spartanburg, SC 29303, with funeral services following at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. George F. Nayfa. Burial will be in West Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29302. Memorials may be made to the George Georgopoulos Funeral Fund, PO Drawer 1530, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
