George Fowler

George E. Fowler, 85, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, November 1, 2015, at his home. Born March 30, 1930, in Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late Wheeler Thedford and Janie Mae Arrowood Fowler. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Fowler was a member and Chairman of Deacons at First Baptist Church of Cowpens. He was employed with Clarkson Brothers as construction superintendent for 30 years. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Wilma J. Fowler; children, Trudy Albergotti (Shep) of Maryville, TN, Donna McCray (Ashley) of Chesnee, SC, Deneen F. Hamrick (Pete) of Rutherfordton, NC, and Randy Fowler (Sheila) of Cowpens, SC; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Fowler and Harold Fowler, both of Cowpens, SC; and sisters, Annie Ruth Sprouse of Cowpens, SC, Sarah Hutchins of Chesnee, SC, and Geneva Smith and Lucille Peahoff, both of Cowpens, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers and one sister. Visitation will be 1:00-2:45 PM Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Cowpens, 108 W. Church St., Cowpens, SC 29330. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Bill Westafer, the Rev. Ronell Owensby, and Mr. Brian Dawkins. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery St., Cowpens, SC 29330. The family is at the home.
