George Caughman

George G. Caughman Jr., 88, of Inman, SC, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, at RoseCrest-Inman. Born May 5, 1925, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late George Graichen Caughman Sr. and Annie Laurie (Lester) Caughman. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Anne Halstead (Westrope) Caughman. A U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Caughman was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Spartanburg, SC. He formerly resided with his family in Asheville, NC and later in Clemson SC during a lifelong career with American Enka/Akzona Corporation. Survivors include his children, George G. Caughman III, P. E. of Watertown, CT, Gordon W. Caughman and wife Alecia M. of Honolulu, HI, Dr. John B. O. Caughman II and wife Rev. Jenny M. of Oak Ridge, TN, and Anne Caughman of Easley, SC; grandchildren, Adam G. Caughman of Bensenville, IL, Sargent Andre M. Caughman, USMC, of Jacksonville, NC, John B. O. Caughman III, Alexander M. Caughman, and Abigail A. Caughman, all of Oak Ridge, TN. Visitation will be 9:00-9:45 AM Friday, November 15, 2013, in the Parlor at St. John's Lutheran Church, 415 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Emily Edenfield. Burial will be at 2:30 PM in Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Ave., Columbia, SC 29201.
