Geneva Hoon

December 30, 1921 — August 12, 2009

Surrounded by her loved ones at home, Geneva Thomas Hoon passed away to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, after an extended illness. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Chester A. Hoon. She was the fourth child of the late Albert Buford and Corrie Sellars Thomas. She was a graduate of Cowpens High School. Geneva was a lifelong faithful member of Cowpens First Baptist Church and an active member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class until illness prevented her participation. She retired from Sears Roebuck & Company's Shipping and Receiving Department after 24 years of service. In addition to her husband, Chet, she is survived by daughters, Janet Hoon of Spartanburg, and Patti Oglesby and her husband Rhett of Forest City, NC, as well as grandchildren, Brian Oglesby and Tricia Kingery, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Ora Turner of Greenville, Mae Addington of Duncan, and sister-in-law, Myrna McKee and her husband Ed of Georgetown, TX. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Janice; sister, Vera; brother, Malcolm; and brother-in-law, William L. Hoon, M.D. Her family was always her first priority and concern. They are forever grateful for having her sweet, loving presence in their lives. Visitation will be 1:30-2:15 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Bill Westafer. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests remembrances, if desired, be made to Cowpens First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O.
