Gene Timothy Simpson, Sr.

Gene Timothy Simpson, Sr., 84, of Spartanburg, passed away on Saturday afternoon, February 10, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center.  Gene was born on March 23, 1939, in Spartanburg County, a son of the late Flora Mae Mathis Simpson and Jesse Jacob Simpson.  He was the devoted husband of Brenda Louise Skinner Simpson for 66 years. 

Gene was a member of Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church. He was an employee at Mayfair Mills for 35 years, was the owner of Simpson TV and Appliance, and provided HVAC services at Boyd Management Properties. 

Also surviving are two sons, Alan Dale Simpson (Patty) of Cowpens and Jeffery Todd Simpson (Tracy) of Fort Mill, SC; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Simpson of Spartanburg; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Gene was predeceased by a son, Gene Timothy Simpson, Jr.; a grandson, Nathan; and his sister, Gail Lynch. 

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC. Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church, 1965 Dewberry Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Pastor Ken Hales. The burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Davis Chapel Wesleyan Church, 1965 Dewberry Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
