Gene "Stroke" Gossett, 64, of Pacolet, SC, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at his home. Born November 25, 1951, in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of Betty Gossett of Pacolet, SC and the late Carol Dean Gossett. He was known in the community as "Grandpa" by many children. Mr. Gossett retired from Beaumont Mills, enjoyed playing drums, and loved to be around people and have a good time. He was a member of Tate Memorial Baptist Church, an honorary member of the VFW of Spartanburg, as well as past Governor of the Moose Lodge of Spartanburg. In addition to his mother, survivors include three daughters, Jennifer Gossett of Spartanburg, SC, Tonya Gossett of Pauline, SC, and Kelli LeGardye (Brandon) of Boiling Springs, SC; four grandchildren; sisters, Carol Wells and Wanda Harris; stepsons, Frankie, Bim, Pee Wee, and Ronnie Humphries; and fiancé, Linda Humphries. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Friday, November 4, 2016, at Pacolet First Baptist Church, 310 W. Main St., Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Sparks. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gene Gossett Memorial Fund, c/o The J. F. Floyd Mortuary, PO Drawer 1530, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at their respective homes.
