Gayle Bolton

Cydee Gayle Pettit Bolton, 70, of Pauline, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, June 17, 2009, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Born May 6, 1939, in Pauline, SC, she was the daughter of the late Allen Wakefield Pettit and Grace Morrow Marquis. A graduate of Roebuck High School, she was retired from Bolton-James Alignment, Inc. She was a lifelong member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where she served her Lord faithfully through the Choir, Women's Missionary Union, Director of Royal Ambassadors, Sunday School teacher and Church Trustee. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Donald Embry Bolton; a son, Jonathan Embry Bolton and his wife, Shelby Netherton Bolton of Pauline; a daughter, Sonya Bolton Hatcher and her husband Lon McKinney Hatcher of Walnut Grove; four grandchildren, Jonathan Cain Bolton, Andrew Embry Bolton, Abigayle McKinney Hatcher, and Benjamin Bolton Hatcher; and two sisters, Grace Irene Pettit Casey and her husband, the late Marion Lanham (Jack) Casey, and Mary Charlene Pettit Yarborough and her husband Milton Dean Yarborough. We are forever grateful for her loving caretakers, Elsie Groce and Margaret Thompson. A memorial service in honor of Gayle's fruitful life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Pauline, SC, conducted by the Rev. Joshua C. Jennings. The family will receive friends following the service at the Church. A private burial will be held prior to the service. In remembrance of Mrs. Bolton, memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children's Home, P. O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648-1178; or to the Together We Grow program at Philadelphia Baptist Church, P. O. Box 220, Pauline, SC 29374. The family is at the home.
