Gary Edwards

Gary Eugene Edwards, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 15, 1935, in Drayton, SC, he was the son of the late Willard Chester and Grace Waddell Edwards and husband of the late Joyce Cudd Sizemore Edwards. A 1953 graduate of Spartanburg High School and U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Edwards served on the Yorktown from 1953-1957. He was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church and retired in 1998 from Spartanburg Water System after 43 years of service. Surviving are his children, Gene Edwards (Jennie), Blane Edwards, all of Inman, SC, and Resa Edwards of Taylors, SC; stepson, Keith Sizemore (Rita) of Moore, SC; former wife, Martha Jean Gregg Barnette of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 19, 2017, in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Joey Burnett. Visitation will follow at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Arcadia First Baptist Church, 241 Spring Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family is at their respective homes.
