Gary Brannon

January 20, 1948 — January 22, 2016

Gary Dennis Brannon, 68, of Roebuck, SC, died Friday, January 22, 2016, peacefully at his home. Born January 20, 1948, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late William Earl and Sue Edge Brannon. Mr. Brannon served with pride in the United States Air Force stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War and later guarded the missile fields of South Dakota. Upon his return home, he served with the Spartanburg Sheriff's Department and moved to the Solicitor's office as an investigator and undercover narcotics officer. He was later involved in real estate and wholesale retail sales. He loved the simple things in life. The sun setting and flowers blooming made him happy. He was an avid fan of current events, loved a good thunderstorm, and loved thinking about fishing more than he actually fished. Most of all he loved his private time with his best friend and wife, and time with his family. He will be missed beyond belief and will be loved forever. Survivors include his beloved wife of 29 years, Teresa Harris Brannon; son, Seth Brannon and wife, Jan; stepdaughter, Sally Davis Dunsmoor and husband, Jack; granddaughter, DeLana Lynn Brannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth Brannon and Steve Brannon. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 PM on Monday, January 25, 2016, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, with services following at 2:00 PM in the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Rex Keaton. Burial with military rites will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family would like to thank Drs. Ki Y. Chung and Colin Curran for helping with his battle with cancer as long as they could and all the wonderful nurses at Spartanburg Medical Center. If you have not had a colonoscopy - Get One!
