G. Blalock

G. Guy Blalock, 82, of Spartanburg, died Monday, December 5, 2011, at Valley Falls Terrace. Born June 17, 1929, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Raymond Rex and Ruth Wall Blalock. He was predeceased by his first wife, Edna Taylor Blalock, and his second wife, Doris Carolyn Caldwell Blalock. Mr. Blalock was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW. He received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Occupation Medal (Japan), United Nations Service Medal, and Merit Unit Citation. Guy was retired from Piedmont Mechanical as a master plumber and pipefitter. He was also an avid dog lover. He is survived by many loving family members. A graveside service, with military rites by the SC State Guard Honors Team, will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 7, 2011, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Andy Case. Visitation will follow the service at the graveside.
