Furman Rogers

Furman Dendy Rogers, 82, died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Magnolia Manor-Inman. Born April 11, 1931 in Williamston, SC he was the son of the late Hyson Welburn and Mary Ione Johnson Rogers and husband of the late Lucy Mabry Rogers. Mr. Rogers served in the Army National Guard and worked in the warehouse at Vaughn Belting Co. He was a member of St. John's Masonic Lodge #333, the Hejaz Shrine Temple, and St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He is survived by nieces and nephews and was predeceased by five sisters and four brothers. His commitment and involvement with both families, the Mabry's and Rogers, far exceeded his official role of husband, brother, uncle and friend. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Rev. Frank E. Lybrand, Rev. Jack Hames, and Rev. McKinley Miles. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1320 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or the charity of one's choice.
