Fredrick "Fred" Eugene Brown Sr., 86, of Inman, died Sunday, July 15, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born October 13, 1925, in Ashland, KY, he was the husband of the late Jessie Irene Brown and son of the late Edgar and Lettie Songer Brown, and the last surviving member of his immediate family. A retired U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Brown was also retired as a millwright from Fluor Daniels at Hoechst Fibers in 1988. He was a lifetime member of The Fleet Reserve, a mason, and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his children, Lettie B. Link and husband John, James Brown and wife Susan, Jackie Brown, Pam Gilbert, Fredrick E. Brown Jr., Bruce Brown and wife Amanda, and Holly Thackston and husband David; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jenny Lee Garland; eight brothers; and three sisters. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, by the Rev. Andy Case. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park with military rites by the American Legion Post #28 Honors Team. The family is at the home.
