Freda Spivey

Freda M. Spivey, 75, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Friday, June 17, 2022 at Lakewood Senior Living. Born September 21, 1946 in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late D.B. and Catherine Gilbert Mahaffey and the wife of the late Terry Lee Spivey.

Freda was a graduate of Presbyterian Hospital Nursing School in Charlotte, NC, where she earned her degree in Nursing. As an RN, she was retired after being employed with Dr. Julian Josey for 25 years. She was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church and was an avid Clemson Tiger football fan.

Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Spivey Green (Bryan), of Spartanburg, SC, her grandson, Langston Lee Green of Spartanburg, SC, her granddaughter, Rowan Elizabeth Green of Spartanburg, SC, her sister, Rebecca Giles (Lee) of Chesnee, SC, brother, Roger Mahaffey (Rachel) of Summerville, SC, brother-in-law, Randy Henderson of Boiling Springs, SC, numerous nieces and nephews, and her mother-in-law, Rita Collins of Charlotte, NC. She was predeceased by her sister, Deana M. Henderson.

A Graveside service will be privately held in Fingerville First Baptist Church Cemetery, 4794 SC-11, Inman, SC 29349, conducted by The Rev. Bobby Lindsey.

Because of her longtime association with healthcare, the family suggests that memorials be made to The Bearden-Josey Center, c/o Spartanburg Regional Foundation, P.O. Box 2624, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
