Fred David George, 87, of Spartanburg, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at his home after a long illness. Born July 28, 1925, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Brodus D. and Maybelle Marler George. He was owner of George's Welding & Wrecker Service and also a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Powell Mill Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Annie Ruth Reid George; two sons, Dave of Spartanburg and Randy (Brenda) of Moore; grandchildren, Scott, Brian, Kyle and Kellie George; great-grandchildren, Blaise, Maveric, Addie, Aiden and Austin George; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Aaron (Carol) of Spartanburg; three brothers, Lester, Wilfred and Mansel George; sister, Evelyn Knox. Visitation will be 11:00-11:45 AM Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Fred Thompson and the Rev. Stephen Johnson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.
