Fred David George, 87, of Spartanburg, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at his home after a long illness. Born July 28, 1925, in Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Brodus D. and Maybelle Marler George. He was owner of George's Welding & Wrecker Service and also a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Powell Mill Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Annie Ruth Reid George; two sons, Dave of Spartanburg and Randy (Brenda) of Moore; grandchildren, Scott, Brian, Kyle and Kellie George; great-grandchildren, Blaise, Maveric, Addie, Aiden and Austin George; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Aaron (Carol) of Spartanburg; three brothers, Lester, Wilfred and Mansel George; sister, Evelyn Knox. Visitation will be 11:00-11:45 AM Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Fred Thompson and the Rev. Stephen Johnson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Powell Mill Presbyterian Church, 119 County Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family is at the home.
