Fred Burnett, Sr.

August 22, 1932 — January 29, 2023

Fred William Burnett, Sr., 90, of Moore, SC passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. Born August 22, 1932, in Fairforest, SC, he was the son of the late Marchie and Pauline Raines Burnett and the husband of the late Lorine Thrift Burnett.

A U.S. Army National Guard veteran, Mr. Burnett was retired from Mayfair Mills as Plant Manager. He was a current member of First Baptist Spartanburg, where he served as a Deacon; and was a member of Arcadia Methodist Church for over 40 years. He was a kind and caring gentleman.

Survivors include his son, Fred W. Burnett Jr. of Arcadia, SC; nieces, Barbara Gipson (Dale) of Chesnee, SC and Debbie Horne (Ronald) of Spartanburg, SC; great nephews, William S. Biggerstaff (Beth) and Daniel B. Gipson (Chanda); great niece, Monica Horne; and great-great nephew, Toby Gipson. He was also predeceased by a son, Jeffery Lee Burnett, and daughter-in-law, Patsy Featherston.

Entombment will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. David Ervin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Encouraging Word, c/o First Baptist Spartanburg, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
