Fred Brown Iii

Fred William Brown III "Freddie", 48, of Spartanburg, SC, died peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, after a battle with lung cancer. Fred was born on December 16, 1962, in Spartanburg, SC, the son of Janice Brown Likes (Howard Likes) of Spartanburg, SC, and Fred William Brown II (Bobbie Owens Brown) of Taylors, SC. Fred was employed at Goodyear Tire for twenty-eight years and the last year of his life at Southern States Packaging. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, but attended Converse Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing his guitar. On his mother's side, he is survived by his brother, David Wayne Brown of the home; his nieces and nephew, Katie, Amy, and David Brown of the home, whom he loved as his own; two step-brothers, Jordan (Stephanie) and Trevor Likes; two step-sisters, Sarah Brogle and Erin Likes; five step-nephews; and one step-niece; his aunt and uncle, Beverly and Jack Mabry of Spartanburg, SC; cousins, Jack (Rhonda) Mabry, April (Lindsey) Robinson, Lesley (Dave) Dillard, and his favorite cousin Laura Ballenger. On his father's side, he is survived by a grandmother, Mary Frances Kinny of Pasadena, TX; his aunts, Dorothy (Raymond) Wilbanks, and Martha (Frankie) Elmore; cousins, Lee Elmore, Timothy Elmore, Tonya Harris, Lisa Cunningham, Amber McNeely, and Brandy Patel. He is predeceased by his uncle, Cecil Brown. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Converse Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Keith Stephens. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are David Babb, David Green, Terrence Phillips, Johnny Kirby, Terry Suttles, and Richard Worth.
