Fred Andrea, Jr.

Fred W. Andrea, Jr., 85, died Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. A native of Greer, SC, he was born February 20, 1926, in Double Spring, Greenville County, SC, a son of the late Frederick Wilhelm Andrea, Sr. and Ida May Terry Andrea. He was a civil engineer and owner of Aiken Concrete Company and a member of Morningside Baptist Church, where he was an usher and a member of the Royal Sunday School Class of which he served as president. He was a graduate of Greer High School and Clemson University, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a former Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Jean Wilson Andrea; a son, the Rev. Dr. Fred Andrea III (Barbara) of Aiken, SC; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Johnson of Boiling Springs, SC; five grandchildren, Ashley S. Partlow (Shane) of Chesnee, SC, Maddison C. Johnson of Boiling Springs, Margaret A. Campbell (Nathan) of Aiken, Sarah A. Bramlett of Aiken, and R. Morgan Purvis of Aiken; three great-grandchildren, Shelby E. Partlow, Olivia A. Partlow, and J. Scott Campbell. He was predeceased by brothers Claude W. Andrea, Rex L. Andrea, Augustus Andrea, and John A. Andrea; sisters Edith A. Holtzclaw, Edna A. Alewine, Freddie Mae Andrea, Mildred A. Greer, and Mary Catherine Andrea; granddaughter Rebecca C. Andrea; daughter-in-law Dawn H. Andrea; and son-in-law Mark D. Johnson. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, July 25, 2011, at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Monday, July 25, 2011, at Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely, with visitation following in the church Welcome Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church Building Fund, 897 S.
