Franklin Prince

Franklin Dupre “Bobby” Prince, 87, of Spartanburg, SC passed away September 28, 2022, at home. Born May 27, 1935, in Spartanburg to the late Ralph Dupre and Carolee Garrett Prince, he was married to the late Sula Allene Vandiver Prince.

Bobby graduated from Spartanburg High School, where he was known as “The Ghost” and “The White Stallion” by his fellow football team members. He retired as a District Manager with Quincy’s Restaurant Company (Spartan Foods). A devoted Christian, he was a member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church before joining Beaumont Baptist Church.

An Old Western movie lover, Bobby was a big fan of John Wayne and others. He and Allene loved to travel the country with their many friends. Bobby was a very dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was always a true southern gentleman.

Survivors include his children, Robin P. Jones (Jerry) of Glenn Springs, Randy Prince of the home, and Rusty Prince (Sandra) of Wilkesboro, NC; grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, Amanda, and Chris; great-grandchildren, Briyanna, Aliyah, Chloe, Jeremiah, Ellana, Bethany, Karsyn, and Dewey; siblings, Barbara Stevens (Tommy) of Spartanburg, Lanie Curry of Spartanburg, Kenneth Prince (Fay) of Wellford, and Larry Prince (Pat) of Sumter. Along with his wife, he was predeceased by a grandson, Corey Prince, and a sister, Linda Amick.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. John T. Lee. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
