Frank W. Smith, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born June 11, 1931, in Oaklyn, NJ, he was the son of the late Charles Henry and Anna Julia Dick Smith. Mr. Smith received a Bachelor's Degree from the Philadelphia Textile Institute then served three years in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Albany. Following his military tour, he became an employee of Milliken and Company where he spent the next 35 years, retiring in 1996. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Annette Simpson Smith; three children, Creighton Smith of Annandale, VA, Brandt Smith (Tina) of Newberry, SC, and Lisa Smith Thompson (Sam) of Stockton, NJ; five grandchildren, Mason Smith, Bradley Graves, Mia Thompson, Shep Thompson, and Abigail Thompson; and one great-granddaughter, Allie Graves. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2016, at The Episcopal Church of the Advent, by the Rev. J. Edward Morris. Visitation will follow the service in the church Parish and Community Life Center. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or The Episcopal Church of the Advent, 141 Advent Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
