Frank Hyatt

Frank Hyatt, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born October 22, 1930, in Dillon, SC, he was the son of the late Rachel and Maston Hyatt and husband of the late Bobbie Price Hyatt. A 1958 graduate of the University of South Carolina and U. S. Navy veteran, Mr. Hyatt was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg where he served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, usher, and on the Finance, Educational Trust, and Missions Teams. He was a member of the Gaskins and Early Bird Sunday School Classes and Young at Heart. He was also a former member of the Rotary Club of Spartanburg. Mr. Hyatt was employed for 34 years by the Citizens and Southern National Bank, later becoming NationsBank; having worked in Columbia, Florence, Rock Hill, and Spartanburg, where he retired as Assistant Vice President in 1992. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Carol Hyatt; and son, Rev. Dr. Wayne F. Hyatt. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Diane Ketchum Hyatt of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Kaylie Hyatt, Lindy Hyatt, and Shelley Hyatt, all of Spartanburg, SC; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Nicole Hyatt; brothers, Marvin Hyatt of Rock Hill, SC and Horace Hyatt of Clinton, NC; and sisters, Geraldine Hyatt and Hazel H. McNair, both of Dillon, SC. He was also predeceased by a brother, Fred Hyatt; and sisters, Zeldon Hyatt and Jeanette Hyatt. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Wilton. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or the Charles Lea Center, 195 Burdette Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
