Frank Alexander "Alex" Cox, Jr., 68, of Spartanburg, died Monday, January 4, 2021, at his residence. He was born December 27, 1952 in Spartanburg County, a son to the late Frank Alexander Cox, Sr. and Catherine Crowe Cox. Alex attended Limestone College and was retired from the US Postal Service. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved the beach, his dog "Champ", his family and friends. He was a prankster, especially with Christmas gifts, and was always available to help others in need. Alex is survived by his son, Mark Alexander Cox of Lyman; sisters, Elizabeth "Libby" Morrow (Kenneth) of Spartanburg and Joanne Frady of Moore; Laura "Kathy" Mitchell of Moore; his canine best friend, "Champ"; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Cathy "Pretzel" Fisher. A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 South Church Street Extension, Roebuck, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Masks and social distancing will be enforced.
