Frank Blanchard, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born November 16, 1933, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Silas and Lois Belcher Blanchard. Mr. Blanchard was former owner of White Oak Nursery and loved to fish and garden. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Moore, SC, a former deacon, and also a Sunday School teacher at Arkwright and Stone Station Baptist Churches. Surviving is his cherished wife of 61 years, Jessie Rakestraw Blanchard; children, Diane Higgins (Buddy) of Houston, TX, and Stanley Blanchard of Spartanburg, SC; special granddaughter, Crystal Bishop; grandson, Christopher Blanchard; four great-grandchildren, Hayden Bishop, Nate, Adam, and Hunter Blanchard; brothers, Larry Blanchard of Spartanburg, Choice Blanchard of Pacolet, and Silas Blanchard, Jr. of Spartanburg; sister, Pearl Harrison of Stone Station; and special cousin, Carol Blanchard. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Garth Blanchard; grandson, Rodney Bishop; and brother, Harold Blanchard. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Virgil Smith and Mr. Carol Blanchard. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home for their care.
