Frances Eaker Willard died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born April 13, 1921, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late George Fletcher and Bertha Waldrop Eaker, and widow of her first husband, 1st Lt. Thomas Stewart Eubank, and second husband, Woodrow Wilson Willard, Sr. Mrs. Willard was a homemaker who was devoted to her family and was active in her community for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly E. McCutchen, her husband, James Jr. (Jamie) of Spartanburg; grandson, James David McCutchen, his wife, Laura Maw of Greenville, SC; great grandsons, James David McCutchen Jr. of Roanoke, VA and Samuel Watkins McCutchen of Greenville, SC; granddaughter, Stewart McCutchen Yeargin, her husband, Lawrence William (Tripp) of Greenville, SC; great grandson, William Houston Yeargin (Will) and great granddaughter, Mary Isabella Cooper Yeargin (Maribella) both of Greenville, SC; daughter, Catherine W. Wahlen, her husband, Edwin A. Wahlen Jr. (Spike) of Atlanta, GA; and son, Woodrow Wilson Willard Jr., (Woody), his wife, Sarah McCullough (Wickie) of Spartanburg, SC; granddaughter, Morgan W. Crouch, her husband, George McAlpin Crouch Jr. and great grandson, George McAlpin Crouch III (Mac) of Columbia, SC; and grandson, W. Preston Willard of Charleston, SC. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Beverly Catherine McCutchen; sister, Delores Eaker Soboski, and brothers, Grover B., Everett W., and Boyd F. Eaker. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 14, 2014, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by Dr. Thomas E. Evans and The Rev. Joanne Hull. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woodrow Willard Endowed Scholarship Fund, c/o Wofford College Development Office, 429 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or a charity of one's choice. The family is at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Woody and Wickie Willard, 1027 Four Mile Branch Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29302. A casual visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at their home. The family would like to thank the staff and administration of Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care and the Comfort Keepers for their kind and compassionate care.
