Frances Whitlock

Frances Caroline Poteat Whitlock, 91, of Boiling Springs, SC, died on Monday, October 22, 2012, at her home. Born December 29, 1920, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the wife, for 65 years, of the late Jesse Harold Whitlock and daughter of the late Oliver Dean and Carrie Bennett Poteat. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, she was employed for over 17 years with The Leader, and of the Methodist faith. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Sue Hargrove of Norfolk, VA; sons, Jesse Francis Whitlock of Lockport, LA, and Michael William Whitlock of Boiling Springs, SC; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn P. Seay of Spartanburg, SC. She was predeceased by her brothers, Everett J. Poteat and William D. Poteat. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, October 26, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by Chaplain Cindy Adair Inman. The family is at the home of her son, Michael Whitlock, 1049 Knollwood Acres Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
