Frances Mae Miller West, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, June 3, 2013, at her home. Born September 14, 1929, in Pauline, SC, she was the daughter of the late Herman Benton Miller and Nannie Pearl Morrow Miller and the wife of the late John Evans "Jim" West. Mrs. West graduated from Pauline High School and Robinson's Business College. She retired from Spartanburg County Department of Social Services after 34 years of service. Mrs. West was a charter member of Morningside Baptist Church where she served on many committees. She was also a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class where she served in multiple class officer roles. Survivors include one son, John Marshall West and his wife Marlene Thomas West of Spartanburg; one daughter, Nancy Jane Williams and her husband John Gilmore Williams of Myrtle Beach; one grandson, Jason Williams; two great-grandchildren, River and Stella Williams; a brother, David H. Miller and his wife Marian; and grand-dog, Sir Duke. She was predeceased by a sister, Sara Jane Allison. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Friday, June 7, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29303. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. A private burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary escort will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church Building Fund, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
