Frances Blackwell Stroud, 80, of Spartanburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born July 18, 1929, in Glendale, SC, she was the daughter of the late P. L. and Nellie Reaves Blackwell and the wife of Earl J. Stroud. A 1947 graduate of Spartanburg High School, she was retired from the Spartanburg Herald Journal with 29 + years of service. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and a volunteer at the White Oak Manor Sunday School for 23 years. Surviving in addition to her husband are two granddaughters, Sabrina Worthy and her husband Scott, and Ginny Justice and her husband Toby, two great-granddaughters, Morgan and Hanna Worthy, and two great-grandsons, Cory and Cole Justice, all of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by a son, Raymond Earl Stroud; and four brothers, Paul, Buddy, Raymond, and Bo Blackwell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. Jack Weaver. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
