Frances Strickland

Frances Edith "Frankie" Lancaster Strickland, 92, of Chesnee, SC, died Friday, January 8, 2016, at her home. Born November 25, 1923, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of H.C. and Mary Elizabeth Hammett Lancaster and widow of Howard Earl Strickland Sr. Mrs. Strickland was a member of Beaumont Baptist Church and the Senior Sunday School Class. She was an excellent seamstress in a number of sewing factories. Surviving are her children, William Curtis Strickland (Merle) of Wellford, SC, Howard Earl Strickland Jr. (Diane) of Roebuck, SC, Sandra Strickland Link (Mike) of Chesnee, SC, Michael Wayne Strickland (Carla) of Wellford, SC, and Charles Lee Strickland (Ellen) of Chesnee, SC; sister, Rebecca Steadman of Spartanburg, SC; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, Doris Strickland Byrd and Frances Earlene Rochester Boheler. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, January 11, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Mike Stepp and the Rev. John Cox. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 905 East Main Street, Suite 2, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
