Frances Juanita Koon Metz, 91, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Born April 2, 1922, in Newberry, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Edwin Koon, Sr. and Ida Mae Ringer Koon, and widow of Bright Lee "B. L." Metz, Sr. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, neighbor, sister, and servant extraordinaire, Mrs. Metz was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was also known for her handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls crafted for the Red Door Festival. Survivors include her sons, Bright Lee Metz, Jr. (Linda) of Inman, SC, Robert Edwin Metz (Reba) of Anderson, SC, and Michael James Metz (Bobbi) of Piedmont, SC; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Ruby Horton of Moore, SC, Virgil Ray Koon of Manning, SC, Jackie Edge and Martha Brown, both of Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law, Betty Koon of Spartanburg, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Jordan; and brothers, Bill Koon and Jim Koon. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, May 24, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Mike Shackelford. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex.
