Frances Mattison

Frances Blackwood Mattison, 87, was born October 14, 1927 in Spartanburg, SC to the late Hydrick and Bertha Evans Blackwood. She passed away on July 3, 2015 in Rock Hill, SC after several months of declining health. She was married for 56 years to the late James Willard Mattison who passed away August 3, 2004. Frances was a 1944 graduate of Spartanburg High School. She retired as a loan officer with Wachovia (First National Bank) where she enjoyed her customers and colleagues. She was a member of United Baptist Church (Hayne Baptist). She was a wonderful cook and gracious hostess. Survivors include her children, Ann (Allen) Bogan of Rock Hill and Jimmy of Spartanburg; five grandchildren, Jamie Mattison, Andy (Crystal) Mattison, Julie Mattison, Kyle (Kristina) Bogan, all of Spartanburg and Mattison (Katie) Bogan of Columbia, SC; fourteen great-grandchildren, Cole, Neeley, Joseph, Piper, Cruz, Zane, and Warren Mattison; Malachi Brooks; Skylar, Brookston, Ryleigh, Mary Mattison, Willard, and Allen Bogan. She is survived by her remarkable brother-in-law, Odell W. Vaughn; and her beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Kedrick Blackwood and a sister, Virginia Vaughn. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 1:00 - 1:45 PM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307 followed by her service at 2:00 PM, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory and her grandson, Mattison. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
