Frances E. S. Cooke Hudgins, 81, of Spartanburg, passed on to be with the Lord on Monday, September 12, 2011. Born May 16, 1930, in Cherokee County, SC to the late Arthur E. and Annie Mae Smith. She is predeceased by her first husband, the late Gerald Albert Reed Cooke Sr., and her second husband, the late Milton S. "Cecil" Hudgins. She is also predeceased by her son, Gerald Cooke Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda C. Goodlett of Lyman; four grandsons, Toby W., Jeffrey T., and Kevin D. Goodlett, and Dusty Cooke; one granddaughter, Michelle C. Brown; and three great-grandchildren, Madeline and Thayne Spears Goodlett, and Candice Brown; a sister, Mary Smith; and brothers, John, Lloyd, David, and Melvin Smith. She is also predeceased by a great-grandson by Jeremiah Brown. Mrs. Hudgins was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. Her sense of humor and laughter will be missed greatly by all. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Terry McMillian. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, c/o Greenville Hospital System, 71 Grove Road ISC-3rd Floor, Greenville, SC 29605.
