Frances Lanford Toney Duffie, 87, of 291 Heathwood Drive, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born June 13, 1922, in Cross Anchor, SC, she was the daughter of the late R. W. Lanford, Sr. and Nannie Jennings Lanford. She was first married to the late Robert Lee Toney, Jr. and then to the late Thomas L. Duffie. She was retired from Spartan Mills after 40 years of service, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include four sons, Melvin Lynwood Toney of Spartanburg, James W. Toney of Moore, Edward L. Toney of Inman, and Harold L. Toney and his wife Linda of Boiling Springs; a brother, Dewey Marvin Lanford, and a sister, Olga "Pete" Lanford, both of Spartanburg; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn R. Gentry; and a brother, Robert Woodfin Lanford, Jr. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Carrol Caldwell. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside.
