Frances Nivens Culbertson, 99, of Oak Island, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, June 02, 2024. She was known for her unwavering faith in the Lord. Frances was born on June 29, 1924, in Mount Holly, North Carolina, to the late Mr. Joseph and Elizabeth Nivens.
Frances will always be remembered for her passion for teaching and her kind heart that touched the lives of many as she taught preschool for many years. Outside of teaching, she found immense joy in various hobbies such as painting pictures, sewing, crafting, and tending to her yard. She was drawn to activities that showcased her creativity and attention to detail. Moreover, Frances took great pride in her enduring marriage of 65 years to the Late Rev. William L. Culbertson. Their love stood as a testament to commitment and companionship.
Frances' leaves behind a legacy cherished by those who survive her: A daughter Anita Flynn (Bill), grandsons; Brady Flynn (Lindsi), Kenley Flynn (Crystal), Emery Flynn and Jamie Culbertson (Hillary), brothers; Donald Nivens (Katherine) and David Nivens, along with a host of nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Frances was predeceased in death by her beloved husband Rev. William L. Culbertson, father Joseph Nivens, mother Elizabeth Nivens, a son Billy Culbertson, sisters, Juanita Perry and Joan McNeil, and a brother Curtis Nivens.
A Graveside Service to honor and celebrate Frances remarkable life will take place on Saturday June 8th, 2024, at 2:00 pm. The Graveside will be located at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307.
