Frances Cothran

Frances Miriam Cothran, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Born March 8, 1919, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Landrum and Bessie Foster Cothran. Frances was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, a charter member of the Fernwood Baptist church where she served as Assistant Treasurer, and an active member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. She lovingly devoted 38 years as head bookkeeper at Floyd Properties of Spartanburg, SC. Frances had a joyful love for her Savior, and made a positive impact on everyone she met. A legacy will be left with those who knew her and she will be dearly missed. Survivors include a niece, Deborah Gwinn (Rick) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one great niece; two great nephews; three great-great nieces and six great- great nephews. There were many special friends throughout the years that loved her dearly and considered her their "Aunt Frances". In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, W. G. "Dub" Cothran, also of Spartanburg; one niece and two great nieces. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Stuart Jones. Memorials may be made to Fernwood Baptist Church, 200 Fernwood Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29307, or to a charity of one's choice.
